Eileen Doonan Castle. This was a total surprise for me. Most people have seen pictures of this castle before, but I hadn't realized I was so close to it. It just popped up on the road to Skye.
The castle stands on a small island in the loch, with a nice stone bridge leading to it. I love the look of the castle on the loch.
Here you can see the bridge and the strong impact the castle makes.

Glencoe is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. Unfortunately, it was really pissing down when I got there, so this shot from the west end is one of the very few I got.
These are some of the pictures I got of the beauty of the Highlands on the road to Skye.

This picture was taken from a place I stopped on the coast on Skye. The hill just caught my eye and drew me in. Skye is often said to be the island of the warior goddess Scathach, who taught Cu Chulainn, the great Irish hero.
This is a view of the mainland from Skye. I found for myself that while Scathach has always been a friend and teacher to me, the island didn't seem to be any different from the mainland for me.
In the end, she and I talked about it, and as she said, her island stands on a sea not known to the scholars who call Skye her home. It is a place she visits, but not truly her home. To reach that, you have to do more than pay an ridiculous bridge toll.
